Understanding your meal plan

What's in a Meal Plan?

We understand that choosing the meal plan that works for you can be difficult. Learn more about your options and what may best suit your lifestyle.

Meals
Meals are used to enter Social 704 or SoVi dining halls, or Charlotte Greens in South Village. Students must wait 15 minutes between using meals at different locations.
Declining Balance
Declining Balance (DB) funds are used to purchase food at retail dining locations, or in place of meals in on-campus dining halls. They expire at the end of the academic year.
Guest Meals
Guest meals allow students to bring friends, family or other guests into the dining halls. A maximum of three guest meals may be used at one time unless you ask the cashier.

Should I get a plan?

Consider your lifestyle and schedule to decide whether you want a plan. Factors include the number of meals and snacks you usually eat per week, your class schedule and where you will spend weekends.

Daily Plans work well for athletes, residents who plan to spend weekends on campus, those who like three full meals per day and those who prefer to eat smaller meals throughout the day.

Block Plans are a good choice for those who eat fewer large meals throughout each week.

Straight DB Plans are dependent on how much a commuter or upperclass non-required resident student plans to purchase from retail dining, convenience or concessions during the semester.

Before purchasing a meal plan, review the meal plan contract terms and conditions.
